Common Skin Problems And Effective Natural Remedies
With changing weathers, pollution, health problems or inheritance, every one of us have to suffer with one skin problem or the other at some time. Let us go through some of the common skin problems and know how to cope with them naturally.
1. Acne:
High androgen levels, oily foods, greasy cosmetics, pollution are a few causes of acne. Experts recommend using salicylic face wash and avoid harsh soaps. Dairy products and oily foods also should be avoided. Keeping the face clean and fresh but not drying off is the key. Drink plenty of water to unclog the pores and remove toxins from the body. Do something daily to sweat more, before you take a shower.
Mix 1 tbsp baking soda in 1 tbsp water. Apply this over the face and leave until it dries. Wash with lukewarm water. It deep cleanses the pores and keeps the skin fresh. If you have severe acne, do this once a day at evenings. For more natural remedies to cure acne, click here.
2. Acne scars:
Acne scars will be pretty annoying and not so easy to hide. They heal very slowly. Natural remedies can make the scars heal and fade away faster. Oatmeal and yogurt have natural bleaching and skin lightening properties.
Mix 1 tbsp of oatmeal powder in 1 tbsp of yogurt. Add 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of lemon juice to it. Mix well to make a smooth paste. Apply this over the face and leave for at least 20 minutes. This will not only help fade away the scars, but also keeps the skin moisturized and gently exfoliates the dead cells, keeping it fresh and healthy.
3. Whiteheads:
Whiteheads is a very common problem. It is a type of acne that forms under the surface of a clogged pore. Dead skin cells, bacteria and excess oil clogs the pores and cause whiteheads, which occur again and again and stay long time if proper care is not taken.
Wash your face with salicylic face wash at least 3 times a day. Steam your face over a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes. Apply baking soda mixed with little water over clean skin. Gently massage for 1 minute and leave until it dries. Rinse with lukewarm water. Alternatively, add 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar in 1 tbsp water. Dip a cotton ball into this solution and apply over clean face. Leave overnight and rinse in the morning.
4. Blackheads:
Unlike whiteheads, if the pore is open then the plugged sebum oxidizes and turns black. Do not do anything to dry off the skin. Limit scrubbing to once or twice a week.
Mix 1 tbsp bentonite clay powder(buy here online) with some applecider vinegar and apply this paste as a mask. Leave until it dries or at least 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat this twice a week.
Mix 1 tbsp lemon juice in an egg white. Beat well and apply a thin layer on clean face. Let it dry and apply another layer over it. Let it dry again completely. Now start peeling off the mask by pulling gently from the sides. It doesn’t matter if it does not come off neatly. Rinse with lukewarm water once you have peeled off completely. Repeat this twice a week.
5. Suntan:
Sunlight is important as our body needs vitamin-D. But excessive sun exposure can cause sun burn, sun tan, skin cancer, weak immune system and damage of melanin leading to darkening of skin. Any kind of skin damage due to sun exposure should be immediately remedied to avoid unwanted results.
Rub the skin with an ice cube immediately after sun exposure. Mix 1 tbsp gram flour, 1 tbsp yogurt and a pinch of turmeric. Apply this paste over clean skin. Leave for at least 15 minutes and rinse.
Pour raw tomato juice, strong brewed green tea or fresh aloe vera juice in ice cube trays and allow them to freeze into cubes. Use a cube to rub over skin daily after sun exposure.
